EMS Strong

In 1974, “Emergency!” was one of the most popular television shows in the country. Millions of viewers tuned in weekly to watch the highly-skilled paramedic team from the Los Angeles County Fire Department risk their own lives to help others in their time of need.

By casting a national spotlight on the EMS profession, the show inspired many men and women to pursue volunteer or professional careers as real-life first responders.

Following legislation signed by President Gerald Ford, the first National EMS Week was celebrated in 1974 and has become an annual opportunity to salute those who serve on the front lines in communities across America.

This week, Labette Health is celebrating National EMS Week, along with EMS programs throughout America, with the theme: “EMS Strong,” - Celebrating, Unifying and Inspiring the Men and Women of our Nation’s Emergency Medical Services. All of us at Labette Health salute our entire EMS crew and thank you all for dedicating your life to saving ours.

Celebrate National EMS Week by thanking EMS providers at a fire station, a rescue squad, a hospital, a medical transport service, a police station or at any first-responder organization, because they are everyday heroes who are dedicated to being EMS Strong—for you!
