11th Annual Public Safety Kids Camp

Your Labette County emergency responders are pleased to announce the 11th annual “Public Safety Kids Camp" on Friday, June 12, from 7:30am to 4pm.  This will be a unique opportunity for children ages 5-9 to get a thrilling glimpse of what their local emergency responders are capable of while learning some very valuable safety lessons. This exciting opportunity is being provided to kids at no cost through donations and grants from local agencies and businesses.

The day will consist of fun filled, but educational activities that will introduce various aspects of emergency services and safety awareness to all of the children involved. There will be demonstrations by the EMS and Fire Departments using the “Jaws of Life”, a Air Medical Unit, 911 Emergency Communications, Labette County Law Enforcement Agencies and many more. We will also take the kids to the swimming pool for an hour of water safety and fun so make sure you pack a swimming suit.

In addition to learning, all of the participants will walk away with some great safety give-a-ways that include a T-shirt, information on what to do during severe weather and much, much more. Most importantly we hope that they leave knowing a bit more about their local emergency response system and a few ways that they can be safer during the summer time. Again, this is all at no cost to the children and a great way to spend a Friday in the summer.

We are only able to have 100 kids participate so please register your child early. We will be taking the first 100 kids that register and spots are filling up fast! To sign-up and to receive a registration packet, please contact EMS at 620-820-5400 or email labettehealthems@labettehealth.com.   In case of inclement weather the event will go on as planned. We have an agreement to use the Recreation Center as a back up to the park.

All registered participants will get a letter with a schedule for the day about ten days prior to the event outlining what you need to bring and other particulars. We must have a completed registration form with a parent or guardian signature for any child to participate. Thank you for your interest, we look forward to continuing an exciting tradition for Kids in Labette County.
