Labette Health Receives American College of Radiology Accreditation
Parsons—Labette Health is pleased to announce that it has once again been awarded a 3-year term of accreditation in Mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The hospital’s successful accreditation follows an intensive on-site assessment by specially trained board-certified physicians and medical physicists who evaluate all aspects of the program to be sure it meets the rigorous requirements set by the association. “The ACR accreditation demonstrates our continued pledge to provide high-quality of care,” said Brian Williams, Labette Health President/CEO. “Accreditation by the ACR inspires a high level of confidence for our patients and referring physicians.” The American College of Radiology, headquartered in Virginia, awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the facility. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the facility with a comprehensive report. “This is a routine accreditation process that Labette Health has been required to have in order to do mammography. A number of quality-related measures must be met to obtain the designation. Our accreditation is good for three years,” explained Monica Ong, Radiology Manager. The ACR has a long history of providing accreditation for diagnostic imaging going back as far as 1963. In 1992, the ACR became the only national accrediting body for mammography accreditation approved by the US Food and Drug Administration under the Mammography Quality Standards Act. Quality standards for mammography facilities have been credited with saving tens of thousands of women’s lives. “This recognition is a tribute to the expertise, diligence and commitment of our staff and we are extremely proud of the entire team,” said Williams. ###
