Parsons, KS—The Labette Health Foundation is honored to accept a donation from the Goppert Foundation in the amount of $100,000. The donation was given in support of the new Independence Healthcare Center, located in Independence, Kansas.

The Goppert Foundation is a family foundation established in 1959 by the late Clarence H. Goppert, a banker and philanthropist who believed in giving back to the communities that supported his family’s banking business. The Goppert Foundation has supported many civic groups and projects, healthcare facilities and educational endeavors for many years. Goppert Foundation Vice President, Autumn Markley, stated, “We are excited and happy to support Labette Health Foundation and the community with the building of the new Independence Healthcare Center in Independence, Kansas”. Farmers Bank in St. Paul, KS is one of the Goppert State Service Banks serving Southeast Kansas since 1899. Farmers Bank President, Joe Smith, presented the check to Rod Landrum, Labette Health Foundation Director.

“This generous donation by the Goppert Foundation will be instrumental in our efforts to support Labette Health’s mission in Montgomery County,” said Corey Hugo, Foundation Board Member.

The new Independence Healthcare Center will be located on Peter Pan Road. The facility will include an Emergency Department, Rural Health Clinic, Laboratory and Imaging Services. Labette Health Independence Clinic & Express Care, currently located on East Laurel Street, will move to the new facility upon completion. The current clinic provides services including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, urology and general surgery. Construction is set to begin as soon as the USDA approves the project.

“The Independence Healthcare Center will provide emergency care, outpatient and clinical services to over 20,000 Kansans and this generous contribution by the Goppert Foundation will go a long way to helping Labette Health make this facility a reality,” stated Brian Williams, CEO/President at Labette Health.
